Mr Newton King's Weekly Report.* New Plymouth, January 3. Cattle —During the holidays there has 'been little doing. Owing to Christmas falling on a Tuesday, I held my Stratford sale on the following Friday. Holiday-making and harvest operations, however, interfered with business, and the muster of both stock and buyers was only a moderate one. Bidding for most lines was quiet, though a few lines of good strong 12 to 18-month heifers made fair prices. Dairy cattle were dull of sale. I quote—Calves, 18s to £1; yearlings, 35s Od to 39s ; 15 to 18-month mixed, £2 2s 0d to £2 7s 0d ; heifers, £2 10s 6d to £2 13s 6d ; heifers, £2 10s 6d to £2 13s ; 2-year do., £3 to£3 2s Gd ; springing heifers, £4 8s to £4 10s.
