THOSE CRICKET MATCHES.
(TO THE EDITOR.) Sir, —It was notified in the Opunake Times of Tuesday last that two matches in the Junior Cup fixtures would be played here on Friday and Saturday. Neither oue nor the other eventuated, and this caused considerable inconvenience to several players, who had to come a distance in order to keep faith with their club. Now, I am aware that it is the recognised duty of any club who cannot send a team to fulfil its engagements to inform the secretary of the other club interested in ample time to avoid such inconvenience. In the present case, however, I think it was the duty of the local secretary to have wired to the the secretaries of both the 'Stratford and Hawera Clubs askiug definitely whether they were sending teams, and avoid the necessity of bringing men nine or ten miles on a fool's errand. —I am, &c, Cricketer. Dec. 10th, 1991.
