Land Board.
The Land Board met on Monday. Present: The Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr Strauchon), Hon Mr Kelly, Messrs Stock, Koy and Heslop. UNPAID INSTALMENTS. G. Burrows, jnn., applied to capitalise the unpaid instalments on Section 3, Block 7, Egmont.—Agreed to. TRANSFER. T. J. Hinde's application to transfer Section 22, Block 3, Huiroa, to Miss Masy Hinde, was acceded to. The Board sanctioned the applications of p.l. selectors :—H. J. Alder, Section 28, Block 15, Huiroa, to S. Parker ; G. Sangster, Section 18, Block 12, Huiroa, to T. Hine; J. P. Lineham, Section 1, Block 11, Egmont, to B. 0. Ellis, ACQUIRING FREEHOLD. The following applications for the freehold of d.p. lands were agreed to: A. J. Bawstron, Section 60, Block 10, Kaupokonui; S. Jones, Section 26, Block, 9, Cape. J. H. Sellers applied for the freehold of Section 62; Block. 11, Opunake, to be granted by exemption from residence as he resides on a section 7 miles away from it. The Board decided that upon compliance with the full conditions of improvements, the applicant be allowed to acquire the freehold on single improvement conditions. It was further resolved—" That settlers holding two sections not contiguos to each other be deemed to have complied with the conditions as to personal residence if they reside, and continue to reside, on a section within ten miles in a direct line of the other section." 3IIMI. G. A. Jupp offered to fence Crown landsS ection 4, Block 11, Mimi, and wait for payment till the land is dealt with, as he has laid it in grass.—lt was decided that a lease from year to year be granted to the applicant, subject to termination by three months' notice, at a nominal rental of Is per annum, without compensation for any improvements, and with permission to remove the fence before the expiry of term. PROPOSALS FOR EXPENDITURE. The Manganui Road Board submitted proposals for the expenditure of £154 4s of thirds accrued to the 29th September last. The schedule was agreed to, with the exception of the amounts accrued to the Pembroke and Cross Koads, which require further explanation, and the amount to the credit of the Monmouth Boad is to be carried forward for future expenditure. The Clifton County Council submitted proposals for the expenditure of £3O 14s lOd. Agreed to. The Waimate Road Board submitted proposals for the expenditure of £6ll 2s 7d. Agreed to, with the exception of the money from Sections 83 and 86, Block 11; Section 14, Block 9, Kaupokonui; and Section 7, Block 5, Kaupokonui, which are to be spent as recommended. The Opunake Town Board stated that it was not yet decided as to the expenditure of £6 17s 7d of thirds accrued from Sections 8,9, and 10, suburbs of Opunake. The Board decided that the Taranaki County Council be requested to expend the thirds on the Main South Road fronting the Sections. UNIVERSITY RESERVES. The valuations of the University Reserves, Opunake, and Carlyle, together with the value of the improvements thereon, were received from the ranger and read. EXTENSION .OF TIME. The following deferred payment selectors made application for extension of time to pay the capitalised value on their holdings, the license expiring on the 81st December next: — T. Holroyd, Sections 11 and 12, Block 3, Waimate; W. A. McKay, Section 217, Block 7, Waimate. The time was extended to the 30th June, 1895. COMPLETING IMPROVEMENTS. R. Duun's application for extension of tima to pay instalments on Ssetion '■), Block 2, Opunake, was granted to the 31st December, and W. Seed was allowed six months to effect the necessary improvements on Section 4, Block 15, Upper Waitara. SURRENDER. J. S. Taylor requested to be allowed to forfeit Section 6, Block 2, Ngatimaru Milsom Special Settlement, not being, ia a position to commence improving it. The surrender was accepted. PRICE FIXED. The price of sections in the Eltham Special Settlement, Ngatimaru, were submitted, and agreed to. CANOE STATION. The Commissioner reported that an application had been made by Mr Webber for a lease of part Reserve R., Town of New Plymouth, containing 3 roods. It was subsequently found to be a reserve for a canoe station for the natives.—News.
