Opunake Band of Hope.

The final entertainment of • the season in connection with the Baud of Hope took place in the Wesleyan Church on Tuesday evening before a good audience. The programme was opened with an instrumental duet {violin and organ) by Messrs Lloyd and Hutchens. Song, “ The King’s Highway,” Mr Raikes, was well given. Miss M. Pepperill then gave a song in very nice style. Mr Brewer was quite at home in the song “ The Red Robin.” Miss and Master Humphries sang “What are the Wild Waves Saying ? ” in very good time and tune. The old favorite duet, “The Pilot Brave,” was well rendered by Miss Pepperill and Mr Raikes. Mr Grainger recited a very amusing piece, “ The Twins.” Mr W. McLeod gave a very interesting account of his Afiican experiences, which were extremely thrilling. Messrs Lloyd and Carter sang the duet, “ Albion,” which was given in their usual faultless manner. A very pretty orchestral selection was given by Miss Carter, Messrs Hutchens, Lloyd, and Ebbett. A very interesting and amusing dialogue, “ Batchelors’ Advertising,” was well performed by Misses Grainger and Guy, and Messrs Lloyd, Carter, J. Guy, and Burgess. These entertainments have formed a very pleasant source of amusement and instruction during the winter months, and have been looked forward to as pleasant social re-unions.
