Amateur Dramatic Club.

On Friday next the above Club will makeitsappearance before an Opunake audience in the two pieces “ lei on Parle Francois” and “The Clockmaker’s Hat,” which they have had in active rehearsal during the past two months. The stage and scenery have been fixed up for the occasion to such’ good effect that you would hardly know the hall, it bears such a changed aspect. Mrs Middleton, who haaalways been one of the leading spirits in the club, has parts allotted to her in each play, and we regret to think , that this may be her last appearance before an Opunake audience, as she anticipates leaving the district in the course of a few weeks, and no doubt many will take this opportunity of saying farewell to her. She has always been to the front in promoting any deserving public object and to obtain her aid meant certain success. Her pleasant face and genial manner will be very much missed from future social gatherings. Mrs Ballard, Miss Tait, and Miss Prosser are all well known to Opunake audiences, and may be relied on for sustaining their parts in good style. Amongst the gentleman engaged, Mr Brame has been entrusted with the leading part in “ Ici on Parle , Francais,” and it is sufficent to say that the public know he always enters heart and soul into everything he t undertakes. Mr Scott is already known as a painstaking actor, and he has been entrusted with parts to which full justice will be done. Mr Armstrong is new to an Opunake audience, and we feel sure will establish himself in their good graces. Mr Des Forges is too well known to need much comment. Mr Callender is also taking - part. The Opunake String Band has undertaken to supply the orchestra, and as an overture will play selections from the “ Bohemian Girlthey will supply .the necessary music at the interval between the pieces. Mr Seekamp, assisted by violin and piccolo, will supply the music for the dance, which takes place after the entertainment.
