Wesleyan Social.
The above social was held in the Town Ball on Wednesday, when a fair audience assembled. The first item was a pianoforte duct, very tastefully executed by the Misses Prosser. Mr Lloyd, who was in good voice, sang " The Little Hero" in good style. Mr Denne, of Pihama, gave several recitations during the evening, for one of which he received a recall. Mr Hutchens' rendering of " The Heart Bowed Down," was exceptionally good, and merited tbe applause bestowed. Miss Pepperell sang " Love's Golden Dream " quite up to her usual standard. Mr Gatenby treated the audience to a couple of vio'in solos, which proved very enjoyable. Mr Eaikes showed up to advantage in bis rendering of " Love's Golden Dream," and also in the duet, "The Pilot Brave," which he sang with Miss Pepperill. The Kev G. T. Marshall recited " Mo3es' Burial." Master Hutchens sang " Gathering Shells from tbe Seashore," and for a performer so young was very selfpossessed, and rendered it in a very nice style. A pianoforte duet by Miss Cross and Miss F. Carter was very well given. "In a Cottage by the Sea " Mr Warner appeared to advantage. Miss Prosser sang " Trot, Trot, Trot, my Pony " very sweetly, and in excellent tune*. " Three Little Maids " was very effectively rendered. The National Anthem brought a pleasant evening to a close.
