Education Board.

The Education Board met on Wednesday. Present:—Miss Heywood, Messrs K. G. Bauchope (chairman), Fanil, Wade, Adlam, Mackay, Ambury. Hill, and Allsworth. ACTION CONFIEMED. The chairman’s action in transferring Miss Ainsworth to the Bird Road School, owing to the illness of Miss Weaver, in appointing Mr H. Mason temporary assistant in the Central School at the rate of £IOO a year subject to a week’s notice, and in appointing Miss L. Reed at the Stratford School, was confirmed. NORFOLK ROAD SCHOOL. Miss N. Kelly was appointed pupil teacher in the Norfolk Road School. • STKATFOKD SCHOOL. The architect was instructed to prepare plans for a school at Stratford to accommodate 150 children and supply the Board with estimate of cost. Mias Jordon was appointed a pupil teacher in the above school. STATEMENTS. The secretary was instructed to prepare the statements of expenditure on buildings and building requirements as asked for by the Education Department. . A PETITION. A petition was received from settlers in the vicinity of the Manaia Road School site, pointing out the advantages and desirableness of a good cen- • tral school on this site in place of the two small schools—Rowan Road and the proposed Palmer Road. The petition was referi’ed to a committee consisting of Messrs Allsworth and Mackay. ROWAN BOAI) SCHOOL. • A sum of £2 was voted to the Rowan Road Committee as a subsidy ' in supplementing the expenditure by the committee in improving the access to the school. ALBERT F.OAD SCHOOL. Mrs Dewhirst was appointed teacher of the Albert Road School, as recommended by the Kent Road Committee. —News.
