Taranaki Land Board.

. * The Land Board met on Monday. Present: The Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr Strauchon), Messrs Stock, Heslop, and Boy. MANGIMINGI BLOCK. Mr Boddie attended the Board with reference to the prices of the sections in the Mangimingi Block. He stated that the Hon Minister of Lands had advised the settlers to surrender their leases under section 159 of the Land Act, and he presented a petition from 25 settlers asking to be allowed to surrender their leases accordingly. On Mr Heslop’s motion it was dedecided that the petition be received; that upon payment of the rent in arrear the surrenders he accepted, and that steps be taken to have the land and improvements valued separately. ACQUIRING FREEHOLD. The Board sanctioned the following applications for the freehold of d.p. lands: D. Bobertson, Section 1, Block XIV, Kaupokonui; Mr Fitzgerald, Section 115, Block XI, Kaupokonui; A. Fraser, Section 19, Block XIV, Kanpokonui. P.L. lands: D. McLeod, Section 7, Block IX, Kaupokonui. HUIBOA. Mr S. Carleton submitted a statement of the amount expended on improvements on Section 12, Block XV, Huiroa, and asked for extension of time to complete the grassing of the area required to exempt him from residence on the section.—Allowed to 81st December.—News.
