Education Board.

The Education Board met on Wednesday last. Present—Miss Heywood Messrs Bauchope (chairman), Adlam, Faull, Wade, Allsworth, Ambury, and Hill. ACTION CONFIRMED. The action of the chairman in temporarily appointing Miss E. Rennell assistant teacher at the West Infants’ School, at the rate of £6O per annum, during Miss Smith’s illness, was confirmed. RECEIPTS, ETC. The Board decided to consider the question of enlarging the residence at Warea when the building grant was allocated, and that a camp oven be supplied in lieu of oven, which is to be kept at Warea until the enlargement is made. The architect’s action in delaying the painting of the Rahotu School, owing to probable additions being made to the building,‘was approved of. A letter frrm the Fitzroy Committee with reference to some fencing was referred to the architect to report upon. SEWING TEACHER. The Secretary was instructed to invite applications for the appointment of a sewing teacher for the Warea School. NEW SCHOOL. A letter was received from the householders on the Palmer and Duthie Roads, urging upon the Board the necessity of forwarding the preliminares for the erection of the proposed school in that part of the district. It was decided to the householders that the Board had no funds available at present, but that the application would be favourably considered’ when the next building grant was received. RAILWAY PASSES. The clerk of the Stratford School Committee forwarded a resolution urging upon the Board the necessity of inducing the Railway Commissioners to grant free passes to pupil when travelling in connection with their duties. It was decided to make an application as recommended. APPOINTMENTS. The following names will be sent to the Committees from which to select a teacher :—Bird Road, Miss Barron, Miss Weaver, and Miss Stevenson; Albert Road School, Miss Weaver, Mrs Dewhirst, and Miss Stevenson; Opunake, Miss Barron and Mrs Dewhirst. ACCOUNTS. Accounts, amounting to £938, were passed for payment. The Board adjourned.—News.
