Tilings have been very quiet up this way during the past week.
A busbman on the Kahui Road cut his arm severely with an axe as he was going through the bush to his work. He went to New Plymouth to get the arm attended to. A settler also, cut the back of his hand badly •with a bill-hook’
A p ain and fancy dress ball is to be held on Friday (to-night), in the Rahotu Hall. The footballers are the promoters, and, given fine weather, the affair should prove a success, I hear that one of our settlers is going to Coolgardio to try his luck. Entre nous, Mr Editor, I believe that there are more than one who would like to go if they could only “ raise the wind.” Not being able to do this they wait, like Mioawber, for something to turn up.
