AWATUNA.

(Our own Correspondent.) We had a rather heavy fall of snow here last Sunday, and a lighter fall on Saturday morning. The latter occurred very early on Saturday morning, and was so light that it did not lie on the earth at all, but the former was a«ratber heavy fall, which took place about 9 o'clock on Sunday morning. For some time it fell very thickly, to the evident surprise of cows and horses, -who did not know what to make of it; then it eased off, leaving about three or four inchef of a soft white frust on the ground. I hear that in Kaponga the fall was very much heavier, and there is still a fair quantity lying about. The Kev Mr Marshall, of Opunake, paid us a visit with his magic lantern last week. The entertainment was in aid of the Wesleyan Mission Fund of New ; (guinea. The scenes depicted mission life in New Guinea, with the habits and modes of life of the people, and a short description was given of each scene. The night was unfortunately not a favorable one, nor likely to attract many out of doors, so that the attendance was not very large. The local Hall Committee intend holding a dance next Wednesday. As the roads are now in an improved condition there should be a large attendance if the night be fine.
