A Cure for Milk Fever.

The following is claimed to be a sure prevention and cure for milk fever, which will be of great value to dairymen especially. For seven years I had in my possession one of my best milch cows subject after calving to this fever. Having made a careful study,-I have found this year a sure cure for such. The prescription is of the simplest nature. To those who have cows in their possession, and know them to be subject to milk fever, the following I have claimed to be a definite cure, viz.: —Three days prior to calving dissolve from 1 to 11b of Epsom salts into about five pints of warm water (to be given in one dose). Constantly watch her until she has calved ; immediately the calf is dropped, take about 111 b of fine salt, and sprinkle on her calf at intervals. The cow at this particular time is fond of licking her young, and by doing' so consumes the salt unnoticed to herself. After this is accomplished stand a vessel of cold spring or well water near the animal that she may drink a portion, if not al 1 , the contents. Repeat the supply of water as often as possible, the more she drinks the sooner she recovers. Acting on these instructions the foregoing will (if attended to in time) prove successful in all such cases. I may here slate that since the cow has calved both herself aud calf are doing well, and no sign of the fever.
