An American scientist of some distinction, Professor Lucas, stakes his reputation on tlm assertion that snakes used to have legs ana were of the walking class. Up to this time scientists have laughed at Moses for saying that the snake is crawling because he was cursed, and now they have Professor Lucas against them.- So much for another of the “ mistakes of Moses.” There is likely to be great interest taken in cricket this season. An early start has lieen made in forming a club, and greater enthusiasm displayed than for years past. The Eahotu players have joined in with Opnniike, so that a strong team will be put in the field, and no doubt some of the honors of 1894-95 will come this way.
