Taranaki Land Board.
The Land Board met on Monday. Present : Messrs J. Strauchon (Commissio:.er of Crown Lands, Chairman), Roy, Stock, and Hon Mr Kelly, M.L.C. CAPITALISE. . AY. McLachlan applied to capitalise Section 25, Block ix, Cape. Agreed to. DEEERSED payment lands. The following applied to acquire freeholds of d.p. lands : —E. B. Bates Section 21, Block vn, Kaupokouui.— Agreed to. PERPETUAL LEASE LANDS. The following applications to acquire freeholds of d.p. lands were agreed to A. E. and C. Young, Section 9, Block v, Kaupokouui; E. B. Bates, Sectiou 22, Block vn, Kaupokouui. value. The ranger reported that the value of sections 20 and 25, Kaponga, was £lO and £24 respectively.—Tlie prices were adopted. HUIRANGI. J. Andrews applied for a lease of sections 1,2, 3, 24 to 27, 31, 41 to 50, 63 to 66, 68, 69, 144 and 145, Huirangi town. —It was resolved to-grant a lease for 14 years to the applicant, subject to the usual conditions as to clearing of gorse at a rental 5 per cent on the upset price as fixed. APPLYING EOR TIME. The following applied for time to pay rent on their holdings:—E. E. Grieve, Sections 8 and 9, Block m, Huiroa. until September; J. Lawn, Junr, Section 9, Block ix, Cape. The former was allowed till the end of September, aud the latter six mouths. WAIM ATE. The Waimate Road Board replied to the Land Board’s memo with regard to the thirds accrued from Mr E. Burgon’s section 85, Block.vin, AA 7 aimate, and Mr Burgon also wrote on the subject.— It was decided that the Board has’ no power to deal with the matter; but that it be referred to the favorable consideration of the Road Board. KAPONGA VILLAGE. The Waimate Road Board asked permission to divert £9 11s Gd accrued to the Kaponga Village for expenditure on the Cemetery Road, the settlers contributing the amount having signified their approval to the proposal. It was agreed to accede to the proposals. APPROVED, It was decided to approve of the Waimate Road Board Schedule held over from last meeting, of £Bl4 12s sd. PARIHAKA. The Parihaka Road Board submitted proposals for the expenditure of £248 IBs 6d. Agreed to. LENIENT. The Surveyor General advised the Board that the Hon. Minister of Lands desired to be as lenient ns possible to those deferred payment holders whose licenses expired oa June 80 last, aud who were not able to pay off their respective capitalisad values on that date.—lt was resolved that J. T. Irvin, Jessie Barrow, and T. Robson be informed that they are aTo wed six ( mouths from August Ist in which to complete the purchase of their respective holdings. CAPITALISED VALUE. AA 7 . Ludlow was allowed four years extension allowed by the Act to pay off the capitalised value ou section 20 Block xin, Kaupokonni. INSPECTIONS, The Ranger reported having inspected 24 sections, comprising 3886 acres of Srst class and 5339 acres of second class land in various Survey districts. The improvements required by the Act were 66 acres in grass, and further value £B6l 10s. The actaul improvements are 1126 acres cultivated, valued at £2252, and other improvements such as building, fencing, gardens, valued at £279 ss. Of the six selectors in total default, four have been forfeited, one has been given till December 31, 1894, to complete the improvements, and one selector was in partial default. —It was decided to ask those in arrears why they have not complied with the Act. SOLICITOR. It was decided that the Government be requested to appoint n. solicitor, so that he can be asked to advise the Board in cases of necessity.—Herald.
