The Architect Ayas instructed to report on repairs required. PL+UA'n IiOACf. The Chairman of the Eltham Road Committee wrote asking for assistance in clearing the school ground of

stumps and logs. No funds available. In reply to further enquiry as to whether the Salvation Army might have use of the school, the committee’s attention was directed to regulation 59. WAREA. Mr A. Spalding was appointed teacher of Warea School, appointment to date from August Ist, 1894. RESIGNATIONS. Miss Grainger wrote resigning her position as assistant mistress of the Opuuake school ; Miss Rogers also sent in her resignation as pupil teacher at Waipuku ; accepted, resignation to take effect on October 25th, 1894. DIPHTHERIA AND LA GRIPPE. The action of the Egmont Road Committee, in closing the Albert Road school from July 12th to 23rd, on account of the prevalence of diphtheria and la grippe, was confirmed. ARBOR DAY. In response to a'n application from the Scenery Preservation Society, the Board authorised the New Plymouth School Committee to grant a holiday in the town schools on Thursday, 2nd August. OPUNAKE. A deadlock having occurred among the School Commissioners of Opunake, Messrs Raikes, Scott, Newman, and J. Clare were appointed new Commissioners. SCHOOLS OVERSTAFFED. The secretary reported that the Bell Block, Okato, West Infants’, and Waitara schools were overstaffed. —It was decided to inform the committee of the various schools of the fact,'and to ask whether they have any reason to believe that the attendance during the current quarter will warrant the pupil teachers being retained. PUPIL TEACHERS. The following pupil teachers having passed the examination in their respective years, the Board authorised the privileges accorded to such passes, viz.—First year : Misses Mattie Shaw, Kate Wade, F. Geldart, M. Morgan, F. Worm, and C. Cowling ; second year : Nil ; third year: Misses Essie Beal, Isabella Richardson, and A. M. 'Andrews; fourth year: Misses L. Mynott, E. Reeve, and M. Irvine. — Herald.
