Mr Newton King's Weekly Report. "New Plymouth, July 14. Cattle.—At Stratford on Tuesday, a. lot of cattle were yarded, und nearly all sold at. the hammer, though bidding for heifers was not quite so good as of late. I sold calves at 29s to 365; yearlings to 465; 2-yeavs steers 62s to 67s 6d ; 18-monthsto 2-jcars heifers, 65s to 70s ; springing cows 82s 6d to 100 s , heifers in calf, 57s 6d to 65s ; forward, 88s 6d ; a nice pen of young spring calving cows, 95s. —At Waiwakaiho, on Thursday, a capital lot of cattle came forward, nearly all being young cattle, which were all sold ; only one pen went home, and that a fine lot of 3-years steers. Small calves made 20s to 26s ; ordinary, 28s to 40s ; yearling 41s to 46s ; 18 months steers, 55s to 60s ; heifers, springing, 85s ; springing cows, 80s to 115 s : store cows," 60s to 68s ; old cows, 45s to 52s 6d. I have plenty of enquiries for young cattle, and demand likely to stand. July 19. Cattle.—At Stony Biver, on Wednesday, although it was a rainy day, the yards were full of cattle, and most of them were sold at good prices. It was the largest sale I have had at Stony Biver for a long time. Calves made 25s to 355; yearlings, to 47s empty cows, £3 5s to £3 lis ; cows, forward in calf, £4 to £4 5s ; heifers, springing, £4 to £5 ; fat cows, £4 10s to £5 6s ; bullocks, £l7 7s 6d to £lB per pair : sheep, 10s. Messrs Budge and Good's Report. Manaia, July 19. At Kaponga, on 13th inst, the yards were crowded with dairy stock, few other cattle coming forward. At Manaia, on 17th inst, there was a lacge entry of stock, principally dairy heifers and young cattle.. The sheep yarded, with the exception of one pen, were in very low condition. Luring the week we held clearing sales of furniture at the residences of Mr Barnard and Mr Sorrenson, which realised satisfactory prices. We quote —at Kaponga, dairy cows, £3 15s to £6 15s ; heifers, £4 10s to £5 12s 6d ; store cows, £3 to £3 ss; springirjg heifers, £4 10s to £5 ; extra good, £5 12s Odto £5 17s; 18-month to 2-year steers, £3 7s; 2-year heifers, £3 17s.

On the 10th our usual furtnightly sale was held at Opunake, but, owing to excessively heavy rain the day and night previous, the great majority of stock did not come forward, as the Heimama stream was in flood. At Kakaramea, on 12th, we had a good entry of both cattle and sheep. Bidding was brisk throughout, and every line sold at the hammer or afterwards. On the 13th we had a clearing sale of dairy stock on account of Mr W. Humphries. Most of the cows wore a bit backward, yet brought very satisfactory prices, averaging £6 5s ; 3year heifers, £1 15s ; 2-year do, £3 7s Gd. At Eitham, on the lG'.h, the day was again very wet, yet there was a good entry, and keen bidding for forward springers, weaners, and yearlings. Keen competition was the order of the day at Hawera, on the 19th, near I }' every pen being sold by auction, and at prices in favor of vendors. We quote : At Opunake.—Weaners, 28s to 30s ; yearling steers, £2 2s Gd to £2 5s ; yearling heifers, 35s to £2; store cows, £3 3s to £3 7s Gd ; forward condition cows, £3 12s Gd; springing heifers, forward, £4 12s Gd to £5. At Kakaramea.—Weaners, 29s to 34s ; yearlings, mixed sexes, £2 2s Gd to £2 5s ; 2-year heifers, in calf, £3 5s ; to 3-year springers, £4 10s to £4 l7s Gd ; dairy cows, £4 15s to £5 ss. Sheep : Lambs, Gs 4d ; wethers, 10s to 10s Gd.

At Eltham.—Weaners, 28s to 31s ; weaners to yearlings, £2 ; 18-months to 2-year heifers, £2 10s; heifers, in calf, £3 3s; springing heifers, forward, £4 10s to £5 ; dairy cows, £5 to £5 10s. At Hawera.—Calves, 17s to 18s Cd; weaners to yearlings, £2 ; 18months to 2-year steers, £2 12s Cd to £2 lGs Cd ; 2-year steers, £3 to £3 2s Cd ; 3-year steers, £3 to £3 2s Cd ; 3year steers, £4 7s Cd ; 18-months to 2year heifers, £2 13s to £2 17s Cd ; 2£year heifers, springing, £4 10s to £5 ; dairy cows, £4 15s to £5 10s ; cows and calves, £4 5s to £4 10s ; store cows, £3 ss-to £3 7s 6d ; fat cows, £4 10s. Sheep : Lambs, 6s 63 to 6s 9d ; cull wethers, Gs 9d ; store wethers, 8s 6d to 9s lOd ; fat sheep, lis 3d ; ewes, 4s 2d to 7s ; fat sheep (shorn), 7s 3d. Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Report. Auckland, June 19. Horses. —The number disposed of were not quite so large as on the previous week, but very few offered remained in original hands. We quote : Heavy draught, £l4 to £2O lOs ; medium draught, £lO 10s to £l6 10s; light harness, £4 10s to £9 10 ; hacks, £3 5s to £ll 10s. Cattle.—The number brought forward has not been large, but t'nero has been no advance in price. The Newmarket yards on Tuesday were fairly well filled. Dairy and store stock were without alteration, but for fat beasts prices were in favor of the purchaser. Ox beef ranged from 20s to 22s 1001 b; cows, 18s to 19s ; dairy cows, £3 17s 6d to £7 10s.
