A borough property subdivision was approved. Reports and General The foreman’s report was approved. The borough traffic Inspector reported tho usual traffic supervision. One cow and one horse had been impounded during the month. Tho health inspector reported there had been no infectious disease cases.

A report, on the borough water supply was made by the medical officer of health. Cr. Short moved that air estimate be secured for the scaling of Ford Street from St. John Street to Union Street. Seconded by Cr. Stevenson and carried.

Cr. Stevenson presented a petition which had been largely signed by county and borough residents, asking that the taxis should bo allowed to park between tho B.N.Z. and the new shops in Church Street. Mr. Stevenson said the taxi proprietors were prepared to pay 30s each for the three car stands.

Or. Debreceny said he was absolutely opposed to any taxi stand in Church Street as it was too narrow. Or. Johnson declared it was not the duty of the council to find a position for the taxis as had been suggested by a writer in the Press'. The whole trouble was that the main street was too narrow. Or. It is my intention to clean the catchment pit in. flic next three or four weeks. New water service installed Bridge Street. Blow-out repaired on water main. Approximately 8 chain of water channel lowered in Nelson Street. Concrete cess pit built in St. John Street and 47 yards of concrete kerb laid. 83ft. by 3ft. of concrete laid in Church Street footpath. 6-inch crossing laid in Church Street and 9-inch crossing in Wharf Road.

3ft. Gin. pipe laid Buchanan Street at Mr. T. Webb’s. Approximately 60 yards concreti

gravel carted to dump ufc yard. Traffic and pedestrian lines painted. Highways.—-St. John and Itlliott streets patched. Grader has been working on roads and intersections. Various gateways . metalled, also roads patched. An inspection was made again re the water to sandhills and it was found to be running very slowly. I would suggest that at some time a bigger pipe be laid from Mr. Moody’s junction as at the present time there are far too many connections coming off-such a small pipe.
