WATER' SUPPLY BOARD.
Sir, — I and many .other Oxford Bushman were very much ,_surpr.is_ed, when reading, the invitations for tenders of the fences along the Waferrace, especially as the Board and the Chairman m particular have had so much to say about local industry. I allude Sir to the demand for iron standards when the Oxford Bufh contains the material for millions of good birch stakes and scores of willing hands are ready to split them and dozens of carters who are only intermittedly employed are- prepared to deliver them and apart from the consideration of utilising local matyrial and local labour the prime cost of the fencing would be reduced by hundreds of pounds. Charity begins or should begin at home and if the Water-race Hoard don't happen to have any of that article on hand I should advise them to reconsider the basis of their contracts, with a view of at least enjoying the respect and confidence of the Oxford bushmen m the future, Yours. &c, Ligna v Ferri.
