Most of our readers will have learnt before this that there is little chance of Oxford getting an order for Birch Sleepers. this. \nnter. While at -the same time tenders are invited for -the carriage of Puriri Sleepers from Auckland. Our members consider with

gome reason that there is a good deal of " fad " about the lasting quality df the Puriri and that a birch sleeper will give honest service. We feel sure that our Members will watch patiently and see if any North Island or West Coast Sleepers are brought to North Canterbury lines and if so they will want to know the reason — " \*/hy."
