BLIND MUSICAL STUDENTS, CONCERT.

The Blind Musicians gave a verydelightful Entertainment m the Town Hall last week. The Hall was fairly well filled considering the very short •notice coupled with the fact that they are comparative strangers m New Zealand. They are natives of Victoria and have only within the last five months left the College of the Blind, for a tour through the Australian Colonies including New Zealand. Amongst the many delightful items rendered by this Company, may be mentioned Miss Wotten's song " Fiddle and I " she deserves great praise. Miss Mulvogue, " The nightingal's ..Trill" some. of her notes were particularly full and melodious, vicing with, the flute obligato by Mr Bartlett. The Horn Solo by Mr Irwin was very much appreciated. " Simon the Cellarer " by Master Bartlett, "After the Ball Y Miss Mulvogue, " The Gipsies laughing trio " by Messrs Irwin Bland and Bartlett, brought the first part of a very excellent programme to a close. Then followed- an Exhibition of Braill reading, writing and arithmetic, card-playing &c, under the supervision of Mr Webb, the rnahager. Our neighbour Mr Hunter choose as the test for reading VII chapter Mark, which Miss Wotton read fluently from specially prepared books and with good elocutionary effect. Miss Mulvogue did writing from dictation, which .the other (members of the company read off. Miss Wotton worked a sum, by means of metal tipe placed m a Brass frame with holes at pecular angles, the sum ,was set by one of the audience and as fast as the numbers were called out the : young lady arranged her type and added' up the columns of figures as fast as .one could do it on paper. The second part of the programme consisted like' the former 6f songs -and musical selections, rendered m a manner superior to any company that 'has ever visited Oxford and we pan confidently predict a crowded house should the Company think proper-' to visitOxford at a future date.
