WAIMAKARIRI-ASHLEY WATER SUPPLY.

The triennial election of members of the Wai makariri- Ashley Water Supply Board for the Oxford, West Eyreton and Mandeville and Rangiora Ridings of the district took place last Monday. A good deal of interest was taken in the result of the polling. The results were as follow: —Oxford Riding — J. L. O'Halloran 188, J. Dobson 72. , West Eyreton Riding— J. R. Wolff 68, S. Horrell 56. Mandeville and Rangiora Riding— S. Hey wood 63, E. Wilder 41 The new Board will, therefore, consist Messrs J. L. O'Halloran, J. R. Wolff and S. Hey wood, with Messrs M. J. Dixon and J. R. Dickenson, who were returned unopposed. With one exception the members of the new Board are opposed to the Rock Ford scheme of irrigation and favour a cheaper supply. The election will, be considered ias a declaration on the part of the ratepayers in support of a cheaper scheme. '
