Marriage — We haste to correct a mistake m our last weeks issue Miss Vincent was given away by her brother Mr Arthur Vincent — not Mr Wright as reported.

Presentation.— -A very pleasant gathering .ttfojj^ place at Bennetts Junction on Tuesday April 17th, when the Bachelors of the district met for

the purpose of making a presentation to Mr R. Bennett on the eve of his marriage. The presentation, which consisted of a handsome gold scarf pin and silver chain and pendant. An address was made by Mr J. Donaldson who spoke m glowing terms of the regard m which Mr Bennett is held by his friends. Mr Bennett m a few well chosen words suitably-responded. After toasts were honoured, harmony was indulged m, songs being contributed by Messrs W. Stirling, Farr, Poninghouse J. Cowens, Bennett, Baker and Donaldson, also a recitation by Mr Parlane. All present heartily joined m Avishing Mr Bennett a happy and prosperous married life and the gathering broke up, by the singing of "auld larg syne. " Hunting. — -Several sporting Gentlemen (Mr W. J. Bassett Chairman and Hon. Secretary) met at the Commercial Hotel on Saturday evening and resolved to place themselves m communication with the Secretary of the Brackenfield hounds iv order to secure 3 meets of the hounds during the coming season. Book Notice.— l have been handed a pamphlet containing two _ sermons preached m the Garrison Hall Dunedin by Rev T. Harrington, formerly minister of the Oxford Baptist Church. The subjects dealt with are , " Christ and Pilate " and ' "The Empty Tomb. " The former shows m an interesting way how the" shuffling conduct of Pilate illustrates the rail- sitting of professed christians of thepresent day; and their compromises with evil .for the sake of peace which they never get. The second treats of the. Resurrection of Christ m the usual way and the author m a good peroration urges his readers to familiarize themselves with the lessons of the Resurrection of Christ, and the hopes which 4t builds m man.
