The Laundry — Blankets to "Wash. — Put two large fcablespoonfuls of borax and one pint of soit soap into a tub of cold water ; when dissolved put m a pair of blankets, and let thorn remain there over night ; next rub them out and rinse throughly m two waters, and hang them to dry, do not wring them Tliis recipe Avill also apply to the washing of all kinds of flannel and woollen goods. Blue to Set. — Blue prints which fade so easily, may have their colours set by washing them the first time m salt and water. After this, and et-er after, they may be washed m the common way. To set colours ha blue cambric dip it into a solution of saltpetre, using a very small qua-.tity to a pailful of water.
Quilts to Wash. — To wash quilts, comforts, tickings, sackings &c, soak m pure cold water 2-4 hours or more, then rub throughly hi warm water with a little soap and rinse well. Jelly Bags to Wash. — Use no soap, wash them m as hot, clean water as the hands can endure ; rinse m boiling water and wring as dry as possible; then day where no dust will reach them.
