CUST ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of this Board was held on Ootober 14th, all the members being present. . The following coirespondeace was read and toonsidered : — From Mr P. O'Brien, asking the Board to open the road at the back of his bouse, as m imes of floods he could not get on to bis land from the main road. Resolved— That Mr O'Brien be informed that the Board does not see its way to opeq the road. From Messrs Wilder and Warner, requesting the Board to do some repairs to Green's Gaily road ai.d the ihoot at the Terrace. The Chairman was asked to see Mr Wilder m regard to the matter. From^the Paymaster-General, advising the payment of £121 2s 5d to the credit of the Board with Ihe Union Bank of Australia, Rangiora, being subsidy on jates. From the Bank, acknowledging receipt of the same. From the West Eyreton Road Board, forwarding the items m the account for work done on the Boundary Road, and saying that the road near Mr D. M'Laughlin's is no worse than it has been for years, stops having been put m the ditch, and the worst places fenced.

From the Audit Office, forwarding account of £2 for the audit of the Board's accounts". The amount was ordered to be paid. From the Oxford Road Board enclosing a statement of works done on the South Boundary Road, and requesting payment of half the cost. The amount was ordered to be paid next Board day. Tenders for various works were received and accepted. The Clerk was instructed to write to Mr Thomas Gonway, junr., That the Board does not see its way to open up a new roa.d to the back of his land. Mr J. Sail applied to rent the Shingle Reserve, No. 1240. Resolved— To invite tenders for the Jlease, to be m by next Board day. Resolved — To invite tenders for fiiling-in ruts and improving the ford on Dickinson's road. Accounts amounting to £112 13s 5d (which included payment for Hospital and Charitable Aid purposes) were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
