BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY.

EXCELLENT PROGRESS. 56 GUARANTORS. Excellent progress has..been made with the canvass for guarantors towards a beauitfying society fund, 58 having signed up, guaranteeing £5 each- per year for two'years. ■ The pnfme mover, in- the schema, (Mr J. L. Hanna) has written, to the Mayor of Auckland (Mr Gunstm) asking for permission to secure a visit' from Mr. T. H. Pearson, the city's town-planning and beautifying expert-, and landscape gardener. Also, Me Hanna has written to the Railway Department in reference to the intended beautifica.tion of the eastern side of the railway on the northern; end of the station. There are a number of other matters under consideration, and altogether the project is in a very healthy condition.
