PROSPECTS OF PAEROA.
MAGISTRATE'S REMARKS. BAR WELCOME^ BENCH. - Prior to the commencement of the business at the Paeroa S.M. Court yesterday morning the local senior member.of the legal profession {Mr E. W. Porritt) had allotted to him the pleasant duty of welcoming, on behalf of his fellow-solicitors, the new Magistrate, Mr T. <H. Salmon, S.M., which he did in an appropriate way.
Mr Porritt remarked that the relations existing between the Bench and the: Bar hitherto had been most cordial. In certain directions the members of the legal .profession had been able, on account of their local knowI ledge, to be of service to the Bench, which assistance would be continued. The fact that he could rely on the integrity of the legal profession had been of service to Mr Salmon's prede--cessor, ajid he knew this helpful spirit would still prevail. On behalf of the Police, Senior.Sergeant O'Grady, of Waihi, endorsed Mr Porritt's remarks. Replying, His Worship thanked the professional gentlemen for their kindly welcome, and hoped to avail himself of their good offices as occasions might'arise, and he hoped the- good relation- | ship of the past would continue. The magistrate also made complimentary references to the progress to be seen on eVery 1 hand in Paeroa, and predicted a great future for this town. Paeroa, he said, was the natural centre for the famous Hauraki Plains, and there was little doubt that it was destined to become a large and important distributing centre for a very wealthy and highly productive area of country. _^
