THE BIRTH OF A NATION.
TO VISIT PAEROA
Mr Grant, advance manager for the J. C. Williamson, Ltd., was in Paeroa to-day, making arrangement with Mr. Woods, lessee of the Criterion Theatre, for the production here of the world famed motion picture, "The Birth of a Nation." In a chat with Mr Grant, our representative learnt that this is not an ordinary picture that comes through the post or packet. In order to screen this production it is necessary to have a special staff. This includes two operators, electrician, pianist, treasurer, and manager, besides which* the company carry their own machines and twenty-three cases of appliances. Mr. Woods we understand has paid a very high price in order to give picture patrons in Paeroa an opportunity of seeing what is described as being the greatest production in motion pictures ever produced in the world. This picture will not be shown in either the Thames or Hamilton, as the lessees of the theatres there would not pay the price necessary to secure it.
