—♦- A few colonies of bees in good order are advertised for sale. Thames County Council meets at Thames to-morrow- morning at ten o'clock. The ordinary, monthly meeting of the I Paeroa School Committee •will be held to-morrow evenmg.at eight o'clock. Mr G. W. Woods, postmaster at Paeroa, has received notice of his transfer to a similar position at Taumarunui. The teacher's certificate examination passed by Miss Elsie M. Thorp was in Class C, not Class D. as stated in our last issue.

A heavy fog covered the district this morning until about halt-past seven p: clock. There was a decided drop in the temperature, and before long we may expect to experience irosts. Good entries have been received for the Paeroa Club's bowling tournament to be held on Friday and Saturday next. As entries had not be.en received from some clubs that had previously notified their intention of taking part, the entries are being kept open until this evening.
The luncheon at theOhinemuri Jockey Club's races next week will be under the direction of Mr John Sinclair, the well-known caterer for the Auckland Racing Club. Mr Sinclair will supply a first-class luncheon each day from 11.30 both in the grandstand dining room and in the outside stand.
It has been said on very good authority, that a certain good man in England, who was in very poor circumstances, thrice dreamed that a specific horse would win the Grand National Handicap. So sure was he that he sold the > very roof over his head and placed the money with a bookmaker. The horse won and the man was independent for life. There are many race dreams being dreamt in Paeroa just now. Quite apart from the horses, ladies have many visions of "dreams of hats," such as Cullen's are advertising in this issue.
