KARANGAHAKE NOTES.
BRIDGE CLASS
[From our Own Correspondent.]
.Abridge "class" (the forerunner of a club) for the benefit of beginners was held in St. Aidan's Hall on Wednesday evening, the 15th inst, some twentyfour members attending. There were present (old players) Mesdames Christie, Lockley, Moran; Misses Lockley (2) and McGruer; Messrs Christie, Dobson, Hill, Lewin, Moran, Searle ; (beginners), Mesdames Ansley, Hilton Hamilton, Lockie, McGruer, Tennent,, Messrs Detle, Hamilton, Hilton, Jury, Lockie and Tennent. A most enjoyable evening was spent and great credit is• due to the "old players"—especially the ladies—for the patience displayed in explaining the fine points of the. game to the "raw recruits.;' Cards were dispensed with and supper partaken of at 11 p.m., when a number ot rules were drawn up and other items gone into. Some reference should be made to the untiring energy displayed by some of the members in getting the class started, but thisVill be compensated by pleasant evenings spent later.
