Tne Thames County Council invites applications\tor the position ot dog registrar. Applications must be received at the County office, Thames, before ten o'clock to-morrow morning.
The Mines Department gives notice that examinations for mine managers' and battery superintendents' certificates will be held on Tuesday, 24th March, and following days, at Thames, Waihi, Reefton, and Dunedin.
Notice is given by the Ohinemuri County Council of the making ot a byelaw to regulate the motor traffic on that portion of the Waihi Beach Road in the Ohinemuri County. The bye-law will come up for confirmation at a meeting ot the Council on April 2nd.

Among the list of newly appointed Justices of the Peace just issued appear the following names :—C. E. Mace, Mangaiti; W. F. Meyenberg, Thames ; J. H. Prescott, Thames ; R. M. Aitken, Paeroa; F. G. Ardern B Hauraki Plains; VV. Armstrong, Paeroa ; A. A. Wight, Komata.
The excursion steamer to Auckland from Paeroa on Friday night, in connection with the Premier Picnic, carried a large number ot excursionists, about 200 making the journey. The steamer returned last night, and those who made the trip report having spent a most enjoyable time.
There was a very fair audience at the Criterion Theatre on Friday evening last, evidently assembled to see the Irish drama " Brennan of the Moore," but owing to the fault of the railway or some one else the film did not arrive. This was not known till almost the last moment, but when the wild-cat train arrived without it disappointment was complete. The propnetory was in no way responsible for the non-arrival ol the picture, and a suitable explanation was made.
The Christchurch Press tells the following : —A day or two ago a man was approached by a stranger, who announced himself as a prospective purchaser ot a motor cycle. After a careful examination of the machine the stranger indicated that he was prepared to buy, but would like a trial spin first. The owner readily agreed, and the stranger mounted and rode off. It proved to be a long trial spin, for the owner has seen neither the machine nor the stranger since.
