Sag moved slowly out to the gate and went through the motion of sticking the needle in the top of the post. He stepped back and holloo«d: "All ready, Susie Jane." Susie Jane stood on the doorstep. She tent forward, stooped right, then left, raised on her tip-toes, and appeared to be striving fqr a sight of the n-cUj's eye. "Nrv/ I jest kin discern the light cem'n' through," she said at last. "Susio Jane," drawled Sag, coming forward, "there ain't no needle there ; but ef yo', want me bad ernough to look a hole through thet pin I stuck up in the gate-post, I reckon, by 'inks, T'u hey yo'."
