QUESTION OF REMOVAL

REFERRED TO THE MARINE DEPARTMENT.

With reieience to the proposal to move the wharf at Paeroa a little further down the river, the following letter from the Under Secretary of the Public Works Department was read at the meeting of the Ohinemun County Council yesterday :—" I am directed by the Minister of Public Works to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the Bth August, asking on behalf of your Council that the removal of the wharf at Te Puke landing to the new site below the new bridge should be carried out forthwith, so as not to interfere with the construction of the bridge, and in reply to state that as the matter is one under the control of the Marine Department, your request will be referred to the Secretary of Marine for his consideration."
