AN AWKWARD PREDICAMENT.
There were two men going through a field. A large and ill-disposition-ed bull waited until they had gained the middle of the field, when he set upon them bellowing. Tlio two men ran for their lives, but the bull closed'up and began hooking at their coat-tails. One of tin; fugitives iii.'vie for a tiw. and shinned into it, whilo the other took refuge in a hole in the ground. "The bull made for the man in the hole. It flashed over as he dived in. He immediately bobbed out, again, the bull made for him and ho. bobbed in and out as the bull shot [>ar]< and forth. They kept this up for n while, and the man in the tree yelled— " 'Why don't ye stay in thai hole., ye clang fool ? ' The hull was dashing n-ro.ss th^ hole with mad roars, and tin- mar: was bobbing in and out desperately, but he heard the voice from the tree. "Dangfool yerself," he retorted breathlessly. "Thar's a bear in this hole ! "
