Baron De Forest sued Henry Marcus Milner, Lady Gerard, and the Dowager Lady Gerard, for slander 111 .alleging that his brutal treatment of his wife made it impossible for her to live with him. Counsel for plaintiff stated that Lady De Forest had confessed to misconduct with Lieut. Ashcombe, a young army officer, but that the Baron had forgiven her. } The case failed on the ground of insufficient evidence of publication of the slander, and a verdict for defendants, with costs, was returned.
