John Heaid, who escaped from. - custody at Corbmandel on Tuesday >last, and took to the bush at Cabbagft Bay, managed to elude the police until Saturday, when ho was arrested near his home, by Constable Law* Both Constables Law and Prase? have been incessantly, either together or by turns, watching for. Heald to come out of his hiding-place. All Friday night Constable Law WM watching near Heald's bonie, and it appears Heald"was watching him} , but soon after daylight on Saturday morning Constable Law rode, away, 08 if tired out. ■ Then, after a brief interval, he returned quickly, when ho aaw the prisoner, who was making fof the milking shed; -On'seeing tnt constable, Heald ran.into the scrub. Constable Law, being, on his trail, Tan . him to earth.after a severe chase. ■ The prisoner, wheu bailed up, did not *» attempt to resist.
