AN OPPOSITION CANDIDATE.
.■I; c "Wide-awake " writes as follows : ■'■' I fully agree with your correspondent, " Anti-Seddonite," in Saturday's issue re asking Mr W. Shepherd Allen to become a candidate for this district at the coming election. This gentleman has had a good deal of political experience, having sat for many years in the House of Commons in England, and I' feel sure he would in eveiy way make a capital repre--1 tentative for Ohinemuri. Hoping that a strong requisition will be pre- . sented to Mr Allen to contest the seat, ■when I feel sure he would be returned by a large majoxity."
At a meeting of the Auckland Liberal Association on Monday night Messrs J. J. Holland, Geo. Fowlds and W. J. Napier were selected as the Association's^ three candidates for Auckland oty at the coming elections. It is expected the writs for the general elections will be issued about November 20. Polling will take place during the first week in December, the present Parliament expiring on December 11.
