Reception of Governor
MEETING OF" THE RECEPTION COMMITTEE.
A meeting was held in the Criterion Theatre last evening to make arrangements for the reception of His Excellency tho Governor, who is expected here on May 1 Oth. Mr F. Cock, the County Chairman, presided, and explained the object of the meeting. Ho read a list of the committee appointed to carry out tho arrangements, and several additions were made to it. Ho said that the Waihi people purposed meeting His Excellency at the Waikino bridge, and taking him from thence to Waihi by rail. Continuing, the Chairman said he did not think it was likely Lady Raafurly would come. After a litde discussion, Mr Dalston was unanimously elected secretary to tho Committee
It was decided that the Governor be met and welcomed at the station by the County Chairman and members of the Committee, and that, an address be then presented to him. The Chairman and the Coanty Clerk were appointed to draw up the address to the Governor.
Major Kenny was requested to organise a guard of honour to the Governor throughout the district.
As a Masonic ball had been arranged for the evening of the 1 Oth May, it was decided that the County Council should give an official dinner to His Excellency so that, if he wished, he could attend the ball.
Further particulars regarding the reception were arranged, and the meeting then adjourned.
