PUBLIC BATTERY AT COROMANDEL.

The Committee appointed to discuss the best method of securing a public battery at Coromandel met on Tuesday evening, when it was decided that a Company be formed under the MiningAct, that Messrs Foid and Billing be appointed to canvass the district and Auckland for subscriptions for shares at 10s each. The capital of the Company is proposed to be £600. A list of subscribers will be presented at a committee meeting on the 25th inst., then a public meeting is to be called, 'when the lines on which the battery ■will be worked will be discussed. It is expected no trouble \?ill be met ■with to raise the proposed capital.
