MINING NOTES.

'Some very good auriferous and argentiferous specimens of ore" were taken to Auckland this week by Mr Alfied Shepherd, resident managing director of the Talisman mine Kaxangahake. The ore is strongly impregnated with minerals, including •oxide df iron, and is dark in colour, -but >it contains seams show gold freely, -and the indications of ' silver are *very strong. This ore was ' ; taken from the (No. 2 stope over 'the jmain level, where the'lode is 'five feet <thidh. OJhe reef has been driven on' for a distance of 320 feet, and has' prospected we'll for all its length, but 'the 'best class of ore shas been found where the greatest depth under thej rhill'was attained, and the present "workings are at a de-pth df 150 f»»et the surface. Exeellpnt prospects -are-bhing obtained from the Bonanza • and Mint mines, in each df which a 'few men are kept employed. It >v expected that the Imperial 'Company will be fairly floated •by the beginning of the new year.
