MR E. K. COOPER'S BANKRUPTCY.

The first meeting of Mr Kersey Cooper's creditors was held on Monday morning. Thebanknipf ami his solicitor, Me Kenriek, were present,, together with the following creditors — Messrs J. Phillips, jr. (in the chair), J Renshaw, Ohas. Short, R Smith, J. A. Miller, M. Kinse'la, < >wen Griffiths, and Soren^on, In answer ro a number of quesnbns, the debtor shifed that if he coald get time ta go to ETugland he was thoroughly convinced that- he could obtain money both to pay 20s.in the £ and to develop the properties. He was quite satisfied that he could redeem his estate, if only given time, although, of course, he could not give any absolute guarantee There was about £350 of wages and contractsl on the Jubilee mine! If the opportunity were given him, his estate would be really worth 2'os in the £. Afrer some discussion a resolution was passed agreeing to suspend all bankruptcy proceedings for six months, with a view to allowing Mr Cooper to go to Etig'and foe the purpose of floating the Jubilee mine, provided all the creditors consented, and six months' protecion for the mine was granted by the Warden. The meeting then adjourned till Monday next, the 2.4 th inst, to allow time for the signatnies of consent to be obtained..
