In regard to this great national drama, which is to be played* in the To,wn|Hall on Monday evening, a contemporary Bays:-----j " The piece went with vim from the JTirap/' Mr. JiJ. Kennedy was an ideal Shaughraun; Boucicault coald not have had a better representative in his mind for his merry but shrewd Irish boy. His-was the performance to drive dull care away, and the audience acknowledged it fully, and frequently. Miss...Thornton, made 1, an- excellent sweetheart for him, as merry and reckr leas aa himself, while the sun of fortune ahone upon them. Mias Hill took the pftrt of Miss Ffoliiotfc capitally, and her foil, the English, captain of infantry, stiff and starchy, was very well pburtrayed by Mr -No> ton. The dashing and generous; Ft'mian, Ffollioot, Was well repesehted by Mr Dobson,. As Father Doolan, a priest; of highest rectitude arid utterer of noble sentiments;? Mr Douglas was a popular figure Mr Joe Kennedy's Kmchela, the prime villain, was capitally done;: and with Mr Grey ton as the second villain, Harvey Duff, earned the artist's reward'of groans and boohoos on< appearing before the- curtain. The whole plagrwant rweUi ahdi there, are too/many goodl soenes-to permit of particularism* The most memorable was probably the * wake' 1 ofi the Shaughraun, ■ wnioh was most enjoyable. The principals were called before the ourtain after each act,, and honest applause was accorded them.
