SULLiVAN KNOCKED OUT.

The following cablegram, dated London, September Btb, is published in the 4t Sydney Morning Herald":— " The fight between John L. Sullivan -and 'Jim^ Corbett for £9,000 took place at New Orleans yesterday- Corbett had all the better of the fight, and knocked Sullivan out in 21 rounds.

" The betting' was 6 to 4 on Sullivan, Vfho fought with great pluck and determination. > Corbett,- however, iproved the more clever of the two, and $iad the better of almost every ronnd. He wore Sullivan'down, and knocked liim ont in (the Slst round, i i .

" The fight lasted 78 minutes, i > " Corbet* foaght with - great caution for four rounds* and ;dodged Sullivan round the ring, trying'to tire him ont. In the fifth round heavy' fighting took place, Corbett landed six times on Sullivan's face- without return. In the •eleventh round Sullivan landed two ■heavy blows^ • and €orbett, aroused, drove Sullivan-round the ring. Sullivan fought viciously, but -with slow SAows, short' and. erratic. In the seventeenth -round Sullivan knocked CJorbett down with a low body blow. Heavy fighting followed, and the round {finished in favour of Sullivan. Both 'were cautious in the next round! Cor2bett was, yery, cool, and, repeatedly landed heavy blows on Sullivan, who *was nearly out at the end of the' 20th uround. Directly the 21st round commenced, Corbett landed his opponent heavily on the jaw." Sullivan fell, bat rose after *rx seconds. Corfeett then immediately delivered a -tremendous .punch on the side of Sullivan's head, knocking him out. Sullivan tried to arise bat was too weak. Sullivan weighed "2161b., and Corbett 1881b.'"
