At the Warden's Coart yesterday the application of Malcolm Fleming for the forfeiture of the Adeline Company's special claim at Karanga. thake, came on for 'hearingMr Purohas appeared for the com. ipiainant, -who gare evidence to the ■effect that the property had not been iproperly manned for some month spast, the ground being worked by iws tributers, Trecise «od party, only. The -was not represented at all,, -and as the -ground had not been .properly manned, he applied that, it -should be forfeited and awarded to him. His Worship pointed oat that his ex. perieuce had tavgfct him that special •claims in that locality should only be granted under special circumstances. Soweyeri the tributer* in the present instance shonld be protected as they Had stuck to the ground so long, and he would therefore award Mr Fleming only a portion of the ground—say 15 acres—and allow the tribute™ to take <up their part of it, and he would throw the remainder back into the goldfield Mr Purchas asked whether the Warden would.give Mr Fleming the of selectiag any portion lie desired.
