THE ASSESSMENT OF HOTELS.
An important question .came before' Board of Reviewers for the Hutt «district -on Friday. In the case of "Stables and Co., of the Central Hotel, at £3000, (improvements' ,£1000) it was urged that the unim' >proved value be reduced to £700. The «own rer stated he valued the property ;at £1500, and did not consider they *would get that for it without a license. Mr Campbell, of theT_and Tax Department, said the question of the value <of licenses had been discussed in the "department/ and <it seemed to him •clear*that the fact of an hotel 'having' • a license -and 'being a going concern cmust'be-considered in .fixing its selling -value. The •chairman, in giving a, to sustain the valuation, -said Hhat ,he ,was aorry that ,there ,wvs ,no -appeal in order that the legal -aspect «pf the-question might be considered. ,
