Sir, —I should like toiknow whether there is any truth in the report that the members for the Paeroa Riding refused a grant, of £250 offered by the Miniater'of Lands when; here' last week. [Nothing of the sort happened. The; County Councillors present at the! interview were given to understand that a grant 0i£950 would-be made for roads in lieu of the remission of the money owing to Government, —a similar amqunt. The, Chair-* - man'decided that he would wait until the Council sat before any "particular road could be mentioned on which the money could be spent. Ed,]
