Snewin, who left nothing undone that .could add to [the success of the gathering. Col. Fraser, M.H.R., officiated as judge, and Mr J. Mills as clerk of the scales. Mr G-. McCullagh,' in the absence of of Mr J.: McNicol,! made his debut .as, starter, and was'i most successful '"The following is a detailed account of the racing :— - Handicap Hurdles, of £25 : Pretender, 1; Silvio, 2 ; Blue Peter, 3. Platch and Paddy also Tan. Time, 4m. 20s. Dividend, 19s. f , r -Maiden Plate, of £12 : Arawa, 1\ Caprice, 2. Seven others started.' Won easily. Dividend, 19s. A protest jwas entered.
Pony Eace, of £10 : Opal, 1; Ned, 2 ; Pet, 3. Five others started. Time, lm, 235. Dividend., £6 15s.'
District Hack Race, of £10: Spy, f; Mayflower, f J Cristopher, 3. Seven others-alsp ran. - The dead-heat was run off at the end of the'meeting when Spy won. iTe Aroha Jockey Club Handicap, of £50 : Never Miss, 1 ; .Bulrush, 2 ; Tuna, 3- Clarion, Try Eluke,f Uncle Bob, La 'Grippe, Ringtail also ran. Never Miss lay behind the ruck until coming into the straight when be went to the -front and won as he liked. Time, 2min. 48sec. Dividend, 18s. Novel Race, of £15: Laird, 1.; Lifebuoy; 2 ; Paddy, 3."
