Woobstock United (Karangahake).' —In the eighth stopu ' north of i.hf No: 2 rise, the No. 3 lode is now fully 2 feet in thickness, and ihe whole of the ore coaling thori.fiom is free milling, carrying a hu.h perc ntagu ol the precious metal. S >uth of the No 1 rise, the ore bodry is small anrl very refractory in charaitec, so much so that I am storing it f>r shipment or treatment by chemical?. Owing to the continued sultry weather, the air in the stopes is still baa, and I am now getting the water blast and aiv pipes into positioa. with a view to improving the ventilation. In ordt jr to complete this work, it will h* necessary to obtain 500 feet of additional piping, which I have already ordered from the Thames. As yet the water supply available is not equal to the mill requirements, an.d 1 have not been able to go on with the treatment of ore up to the present) Silverton (Waihi). —The pan and settler bottoms "are all in position, and no time will now be lost in erecting the sides and getting the gearing belonging thereto into working order New stamper guides have been substituted for the old ones; which were worn Q,ut, and all the cams' necessary ;to run the full force of the battery, have been over-hauled and reluid, jwhere such work waa deemed requisite. The tailiug pits inside the in ill need only the doors to make them complete, and the construction of the agitator is in active progress. On the whole chaos •is fast giving place to cosmos, anl the end of February >faould see ore reduction fairly under way. Tenders iov the con etruction of the new road
