WIN FOR ROBSON

First Game Of Tour In Australia NZPA —Copyright Rec. 7.15 p.m. SYDNEY, Dec. 24 In his first Australian game of the tour, the New Zealand No. 1 tennis star, J. Robson, beat Neville Snelgrove in the County of Cumberland championships 6 —o, 6—4. Commenting 'on the match Adrian Quist says the New Zealander showed remarkable control in adverse conditions and used the top-spinning American twist service to advantage. He adds; “ Undoubtedly the New Zealanders will add to the already at- _ tractive galaxy of stars who will be annearing in the Australian championships and it is quite possible that either Robson or McKenzie may cause an upset in our major tournament.” He recalls that at the Queen’s Club in 1948, McKenzie held two match points against R. Falkenberg, who went on to take the Wimbledon Singles title from Bromwich.
