RACING IN AUSTRALIA

Easy Win For Putoko

A—Copyright Rec. 6 p.m. 'SYDNEY, Dec. 24. Field Boy had an easy win in the Villiers Stakes at Randwick after failing at Rosehill in his previous run. Starting well he was never worse than second and took the lead from Have-a-chat at will after rounding the turn to win by two lengths. Conditions of drizzling rain had not affected the track. The win angered a large section of the crowd which shouted as he returned to scale.

Glading, which has now won £12,530 in stakes, was bought as a yearling for 525 guineas. Though scratched from Tuesday’s Summer Cup because she was considered not good enough, the New Zealander Putoko won the December Handicap easily at long odds beating the Summer Cup field. Smartly away she eased into third place early, moved through at the turn and after that had the race in her keeping.
