GORE JUBILEE CUP

Royal Robin Successful The Gore Trotting Club’s meeting was opened in wet weather on Saturday, and. there was a good attendance. For the greater part of the day the track was in good order, although slippery on the surface. The totalisator handled £37,536. including £3277 on the doubles machine. The doubles dividend on Royal Robin and Grangd-Lady was worth,, £59 10s. The finish of the Jubilee Cup was very close, and the judge called for two photos before declaring Royal Robin the winner from Gunsmctce by the narrowest of margins. Half a furlong from the post Heather Dillon looked like winning, but she was stopping in the last few strides and was beaten out of a place. It was a particularly fine’ performance on the part of Royal Robin, as he was badly placed running across the bottom bend for the last time and was not in the first half dozen into the straight. Once into line for home he put in a sustained run on the outside to win in the last stride. Squire Dillon paced a good race from the back mark to get third, and Sydney Victor, who had every chance, was fourth. Heather Dillon and Grenade finished next to the placed lot. Kopara Lass and Green Spear showed speed, but did not run on, and Ben Ledi lost his chance by dwelling at the start. Grange Lady added to her record by winning the second leg of the double, the F. Wallis Memorial Handicap. She was never further back than second when the field settled down, and after being first into the straight she won decisivelyfrom Brooksby Hall, who finished well. Spring View, who began slowly, looked a possibility for a place half a mile from home, but apparently struck trouble and drifted back through the field. Light Flight showed a fine turn of speed, but appeared to be taken to the front too far from home. She looks a good prospect for a win during the holidays. Cabot was one of the leaders throughout and hung on for third. The results were:— CROYDON HANDICAP. Of £250. Class 3.41. One mile and a-half. 10/12—Jonquil, 24yds bhd (M.
